The Marketthings
about me: Eveline Gonzalez
I hold a BA in corporate communication and a Master in graphic design and digital communication with specialization in art direction. I was brought up in the fashion industry; my family owns a clothing manufacturing business and my sister is a lingerie designer, I’ve always been surrounded by fashion and all its components. I consider myself a Jane of all trades when it comes to the garment industry. I know the ins and outs of production and pre-production. I’ve worked in retail, wholesale and as a Publicist for fashion.
about marketthings:
Marketthings began out of a necessity to obtain services that were especially catered to the fashion industry or at least to it’s fast pace environment. Frustrated with graphic designers that were either so talented but flaky and oblivious to deadlines or those that took advantage of the lack of "graphic design expertise", hence charging us obscene prices.
In 2004 through 2005 talking with other companies in the industry, I found that their frustrations were similar to ours. With the help of my current employer at the time and her art direction we utilized the skills I had, and did all the visuals we needed for the trade “MARKET” shows; graphics, look books, posters labels, tags, press packets, occasional P.R. and newsletters, in house.
By 2007 Marketthings was evolving, but only as a freelance side job. In 2008 through early 2009 Oscar Riveros with a BA in Business and a marketing career within the high-end villa and resort industry in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, joined Marketthings. Becoming a key element; he helped expand it to the next level.
